Applications of A449 Bolts

Anchoring mechanisms

Anchor bolts are embedded into concrete to anchor something to the ground. There are many different uses for anchor bolts including, but not limited to bridges, steel buildings, light rail, light poles, substations, solar structures, and water storage tanks.

Step Bolts

A449 is the most common grade used for manufacturing step bolts. These bolts are used as the literal steps on telecommunication and electrical transmission towers. The threaded portion is fastened to the structure and the shank of the bolt is used as the step portion to climb up the towers.

Structural Steel

Because A449 fasteners have virtually identical mechanical and chemical properties to smaller diameter A325 bolts, they are often used in structural applications including steel-to-steel or steel-to-wood connections.

Generic application use

A449 is considered to be a high-strength fastener used in general applications. While we’ve listed some specific applications above that it is used in, A449 is not limited to any specific application. It can be used in a variety of projects because of its versatility in size and configuration options.
